Hello, I’m Hugo. I create expressive drawings, doodles and paintings with an emphasis on strong composition and a desire to excite and amuse the viewer. I love to draw with pencil, biro and felt tips, adding texture and pattern, and relish in the joys of colour when painting.

Having studied illustration at university from 2011-2014, I have aimed to keep my eye in, by continuing to make fluid and enjoyable works that satisfy my want to create.

My art is inspired by my own battle with my mental health and the everyday facets of this, as well as nature and wildlife, music, and the artwork of others, and the enjoyment of challenging myself to make new stuff that I haven’t made before.

I have exhibited in my hometown of Salisbury a handful of times, as well as further afield in Bristol and London. I’ve never been commissioned for artwork, however I have sold multiple pieces and find it greatly rewarding when someone likes a work enough to purchase it, and a piece finds a home on someone’s walls.
